Quality Professional Medical Care
Welcome to our website. The team at the Skibbereen Medical Centre is committed to delivering a quality, professional and friendly service to our patients, and this website has been created to tell you more about the services we offer and to keep you up to date with news and information on our practice.
About the Practice
We are a large custom built practice near the centre of Skibbereen with six GPs: Dr Helen Quirke, Dr Mary O'Neill, Dr Gerard O'Shaughnessy, Dr Don Creagh, Dr Julie O'Mahony and Dr Dearbhla McPartland.
We have four qualified practice nurses at the surgery - Valerie Moloney, Claire Meaney, Donna Minihane and Aileen O'Donovan.
The practice is a training practice; every year the practice provides training to a registrar from the Cork/Kerry GP training scheme. The practice is also affiliated with UCC.
THE PRACTICE IS OPEN DURING COVID-19
Doctor consultations are primarily taking place via the telephone. Please phone the practice to arrange a call.
These consultations are covered as normal for medical card holders.
For private patients, if it is COVID related it is covered but if it is for other healthcare needs it is not. We are aware there are limitations to telephone consultations so we have reduced this fee to €35 for the time being.
As a further safety measure we prefer payment by card either contactless or securely via the phone.
Any prescriptions needed will be faxed to the pharmacy of your choice for collection.
We have strict hygiene control measures in place to ensure that your visit to us is safe and efficient.
Social distancing and PPE protocols will be adhered to at all times.
We ask all patients to wear a face covering or face mask when they come to the surgery.
****Remember, if you feel unwell or have any unusual or worrying symptoms, don't wait, call your GP for advice****
